Happy birthday, Radisson Blu Béke Hotel!// July 8, 2010

Member of Danubius Hotel chain Radisson Blu Béke Hotel is celebrating its 25th birthday this year. The ancestor of one of Budapest’s eldest hotels was opened under the name Britannia in 1913, in Main Boulevard. The history of Béke Hotel from beginning up until today was brought to life on 6. July 2010, at opening ceremony of the jubilee-exhibit. The hotel has always been part of the bustling cultural scene of Budapest, from night programmes in the Kupola (a night club hosting quality programmes of cultural interest) through the high-standard cabaret performances of the Orfeum to Szondy bar, Nótás Restaurant, Székely Ivó pub. The Móra Hall was named after Ferenc Móra, who was known to have called the Britannia his second home and quite rightly so, after spending so much of his time among its walls. To mark the occasion, the famous Zsolnay Café included in its menu retro-cakes to evoke the confectionary-scenery of the 80s.
