Picasso, Klee, Kandinszkij. Masterpieces of the Swiss Rupf collection
The collection of Hermann Rupf and his wife is considered one of the most important private collections of classic modern art today. Hermann Rupf, a haberdasher born in Bern in 1880, and his wife, Margit Rupf-Wirz, began to develop their collection in 1907. At this time they purchased their first pictures, paintings by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, which today are regarded as being among the most significant compositions of early Cubism. They engaged intensively in the art of their era, including its popularisation and introduction – Hermann Rupf was art and music critic for the Bern daily paper Berner Tagwacht for over 20 years. They often purchased the pieces of their collection immediately, in the same year that they were made.
The event is made even more special as this is the first time that the collection has been displayed as a travelling exhibition. Following displays in Bern and Grenoble, the Museum of Fine Arts is the third venue, where audiences in Budapest can become acquainted with the most distinguished compositions of the Rupf-collection in the summer of 2007.

Two times Kossuth Prize winner, world famous pianist, conductor and principal music director of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra Zoltán Kocsis hardly requires an introduction. He is not just a superb performer but also the possessor of a rare knowledge of the entire musical literature and its many inter relationships, something he loves to share with children. Kocsis particularly loves the work of Hungarian Béla Bartók and Frenchman Claude Debussy and will be talking to his young audience about the common features of these two great composers. He’ll also be playing several works on the piano. After the interval he will take to the podium to conduct Debussy’s L’Apres Midi d’Un Faune and then Bartók’s wonderfully graphic works, Two Pictures.

Tom Stoppard - Rock and Roll
The new piece by Tom Stoppard is cash-success in London, and it is performed now there, in the Duke of York Theatre, where the piece "Gyertyák csontig égnek" with Jeremy Irons attracted many snobs. The premiere was in June 2006. in the Royal Court, where participated Vaclav Havel and Mick Jagger also. After the criticisms it is not clear, which is the secret of the success. They praise the intelligence of the author, the actors, the human history of the piece, they criticize the action, but they write only few about, what it goes. About what does Rock’n’roll go?
