Festival Book-week
Magyar Könyvkiadók és Könyvterjesztők Egyesülése organizes since 1929. at 78. times the Festival Book-Week, this year put the Childrenbook-days to the Festival Book-Week, on the Vörösmarty square.
Pannon National Wine Assembly Wine Festival
Festival of top wine and top winemakers, free-of-charge programmes. Wonders of Hungarian gastronomy with a real market feel. 7th National Wine Assembly Városliget Wine Festival in Városliget 8-10 June.
The festival starts at 11.00 on Friday and closes at 24.00 on Friday and Saturday and at 23.00 on Sunday. In addition to the wine tasting gipsy music, folk music, dance music and a market fair await those interested – programmes are free of charge.
Danube Carneval
This colourful international and multi-cultural event offers a variety of artistic programmes including different genres of dance and music. The Carnival primarily aims at popularising traditional Hungarian art. The carnivalesque atmosphere is provided by professional and amateur folk dancers and musicians from Hungary as well as the representatives of classical music, brass bands, world music and contemporary dance. The international guestlist includes representatives of Hungarian culture from abroad as well as those of European culture and companies from overseas.
Summer Open Air Festival

This thought perfectly captures the experiences in Budapest of the Summer Festival, organised by Szabad Tér Színház Kht. Every year in the months of June, July and August both Hungarian and international guests can catch performances at two of Budapest’s most famous open air theatres on Margaret Island and in the Városmajor Park.
In the unmistakeable atmosphere of warm and starry summer evenings the audience will be able to choose from a wide range of primarily musical productions.
An oasis wrapped in the arms of the Danube in the heart of the City, Margaret Island is the location of the Margaret Island Large Open Air Stage, which seats audiences of up to 3000 in its arena-like auditorium. With its unrivalled natural environment, this is the venue for spectacular large productions, including opera, operetta, ballet, musicals, folk-music and light music concerts. The theatre, which is the only purpose built open air theatre in Hungary, boasts a long history and will be 70 years old in 2008.
The Városmajor Open Air Theatre can be found on the Buda side of the city in the pleasant green surroundings of the Városmajor Park. The theatre hosts a broad and colourful range of performances for all ages, with first class shows for children and families, music and theatre, musicals and dance productions.
